Brad’s dad, Don (John Lithgow) arrives next and proceeds to hug and kiss Brad on the lips, showing that they have a loving, but very unusual father/son relationship. When Dusty explains that Brad is the stepdad to his children, Kurt doesn’t like it. When Kurt arrives, he mistakes Brad for a chauffeur. Brad tells Dusty that his parents are also supposed to be coming for the holiday.Īt the airport the next day, Dusty tells Brad that his father is going to make fun of them since he won’t understand their co-dad arrangement. Kurt tells Dusty that he’s coming for Christmas and is coming into the airport in the morning. Dylan picks it up and announces it’s Grandpa Kurt (Mel Gibson), Dusty’s ex-astronaut, womanizing father. As soon as Dusty announces the news to the kids, the phone rings. Back at the house, after the play, Brad and Dusty decide to do away with having two separate Christmases and instead do one “together Christmas”. Dusty has also remarried, this time to Karen (Alexandra Ambrosio), a writer, and is stepdad to Adrianna, Karen’s daughter.īrad and his wife, Sara (Linda Cardellini), along with Dusty and Karen, attend a school play for Megan, where she announces to the whole audience that she doesn’t like the fact that she has to go back and forth to different houses all the time. Yet, considering it’s a family-friendly movie, the director should have done away with its bad morals, such as parents unresponsibly leaving alcohol in their child’s reach and not punishing them for drinking underage. After finally becoming friends at the end of the first film, Brad Whittaker (Will Ferrell) and Dusty Mayron (Mark Wahlberg) have a co-dad system where their two children, Megan and Dylan, take turns at each father’s house. The awkward moments in the movie were extended way beyond what they needed to be in the signature Ferrell way. I found myself openly laughing in the theater at the stupidity of some joke, and Ferrell’s ability to withstand every possible injury and even death. “Daddy’s Home 2” manages to do one thing right, and that is family fun humor. If you are looking for a great Christmas movie starring actor Will Ferrell, please check out “Elf.” And suddenly all of the actors, possibly angry for not being cast in the new “Pitch Perfect” movie, start singing in perfect harmony. At this point, all of the actors decide to break the fourth wall.įerrell makes a speech about moviegoers coming together, obviously referring to the people watching the movie. The movie goes as far as to have a Christmas miracle at the end which takes place in a movie theater the snow storm ends as the family conflict is resolved. Christmas was the main focus of the movie, which constantly made me wonder whether the movie studio knew what month they was releasing the movie in. The most unbearable part of the movie was its Christmas cheer. Since the conflict is not resolved, it feels as if the movie is promoting shoplifting. The conflict is supposedly resolved after Wahlberg says, “We’re working on it,” and is never mentioned again. In one scene, the movie reveals that Karen (Alessandra Ambrosio), Wahlberg’s wife, is a shoplifter. The sequel focuses a little too much on the “daddies,” leaving the “mommies” with little to no character development. The message of the story is almost identical to the first movie, leaving veteran moviegoers groaning in their seats at every major plot point. If four dads were not enough, Roger, played by John Cena, also makes an appearance in the movie as the dad of Lithgow’s daughter.Īs with many of Ferrell’s movies, the plot suffers in relationship to the humor. Writers Brian Burns and Sean Anders clearly have some daddy issues. The two dads decide to spend Christmas together and invite their own fathers, Kurt and Don (Mel Gibson and John Lithgow) to join in the festivities. The movie picks up a year after the first movie, “Daddy’s Home,” when “Step-daddy” Brad (Will Ferrell) and “Daddy” Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) have decided to become co-dads and best friends. 10 - a month before Christmas - but full of Christmas cheer.īesides their release date hiccup, the movie could have been much better if it would have featured more of Will Ferrell’s staple childish humor. “Daddy’s Home 2” came to theaters on Nov. As the seasons transition from fall to winter, people prepare for the holidays with festive decorations and jolly songs.

Just know that unless you need to accommodate someone else's requirements, there's no advantage to saving as Photoshop EPS. This doesn't mean you need to hunt down your legacy Photoshop EPS files and resave them as PSD (unless you're terribly bored). Pixel for pixel, a Photoshop native PSD is a smaller file than an equivalent EPS and offers support for clipping paths as well as duotone definitions. The historic reasons for saving an image as a Photoshop EPS were to preserve the special function of a PostScript-based vector clipping path used to silhouette an image or to preserve an image set up to image as a duotone.Īs applications and RIPs have progressed, it's no longer strictly required to save such images as Photoshop EPS. As its name implies, EPS is PostScript in a bag (see the sidebar, "EPS: Raster or Vector?"). An EPS can contain vector art, raster images, or a combination of raster and vector content. While many people equate the term EPS (encapsulated PostScript) with vector art, the encapsulated part of the format's name gives a hint about the flexibility of the format. The TIFF image format supports multiple layers as well as RGB and CMYK color spaces, and even allows an image to contain spot-color channels (although some applications, such as Word, do not support such nontraditional contents in a TIFF). It's happy being imported into Illustrator, InDesign, QuarkXPress, Microsoft Word, and some text editors-almost any application that accepts images. TIFF (tagged image file format) is perhaps the most widely supported image file format. (We'll discuss vector artwork formats in the next chapter.) TIFF However, native Photoshop files (PSD) and Photoshop PDF files are much more flexible, and both formats are supported by InDesign and Illustrator. The application may be willing to let you import a wide variety of file formats, but the most commonly used image formats have traditionally been TIFF and EPS. Often, you will be placing images in a page-layout or illustration program, so you're limited to the formats supported by those applications. How you should save your raster images is governed largely by how you intend to use them.
